Boston Business Journal Elects John Ferrara to its “40 Under 40” Alumni

Boston – December 2, 2004 – Capstone Partners is pleased to announce that John Ferrara was named to the Boston Business Journal’s “40 Under 40”, the premier award program that spotlights New England’s next generation of leaders – people with an entrepreneurial spirit who are under the age of 40 and have made a difference in shaping the face of the region through their business and community achievements.

“If the Red Sox can win a World Series, I suppose anything is possible,” laughed Ferrara at the awards ceremony. “Seriously, I’m very humbled to be in the company of such an incredibly talented group of people and I feel like everyone at Capstone should be receiving the same recognition for what we have been able to achieve together as a team. That’s the real accomplishment here.”

Capstone Partners, the investment banking firm that was founded two years ago, is the bi-product of Arthur Andersen in the wake of the events surrounding Enron. Capstone’s core team, then part of one of Andersen’s most successful practices nationally, spun out to preserve the practice that they had developed over the prior eight years.

“We deserve this. Our team has stuck together during one of the most tragic events in corporate history as well as a very painful economic cycle overall. To some extent, we feel like we have been engaged in an epic battle, but today allows us a brief opportunity to step back and pat ourselves on the back for building what we feel is the best middle market investment banking firm in the country,” added Ferrara. “This is just the tip of the iceberg for Capstone.”

John, currently serving as the President and Managing Partner of Capstone Partners, has 16 years of investment banking, venture capital and management consulting experience and has worked on well over 100 related engagements totaling over $6 billion in value. John was formerly a Partner with Andersen Corporate Finance LLC, where he held various leadership positions both nationally and globally.

John started his career with Lehman Brothers’ M&A group in New York and London and was a founding member of Rodman & Renshaw’s M&A boutique in New York. He served as a management consultant with The Deloitte Consulting Group in Los Angeles and was the Founder and General Partner of J.G. Atlas Partners and Atlantis Capital Partners. Collectively, he has been a founding member of five M&A groups and a principal shareholder in six start-up technology and services businesses.

Mr. Ferrara earned his MBA from the Anderson School at UCLA and the London School of Economics. He holds dual BA degrees in Religious Philosophy and Political Science from Wesleyan University. John has also played professional baseball in Australia.

John has been married for 11 years to his wife, Kate, and enjoys his three children, AJ (8), Claudia (5) and Jack (3).
