Capstone Partners Ranked Among Nation's Elite
CAPSTONE PARTNERS RECOGNIZED AS TOP 20 INVESTMENT BANK
Recent M&A Rankings put Capstone Partners within the elite firms
Boston, MA -- January 7, 2004 – Capstone Partners LLC, a rapidly rising national investment banking firm focused on middle market mergers and acquisition transactions, recently broke into the leadership rankings on both a regional and national basis. In a survey ranking of the most active investment banking firms in the country conducted by the Boston Business Journal in December of 2004, Capstone emerged as #17 nationally and #3 amongst Boston based firms.
“We are certainly excited to see ourselves listed amongst leading firms such as Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, Merrill, J.P. Morgan, Lehman and CS First Boston. It validates Capstone’s core charter, which is to provide world class Wall Street expertise to middle market companies. Though we serve a completely different sector of the market, these are the names we believe Capstone should be compared to in terms of our sophistication level and ability to deliver for our clients,” commented Tim Harned, a Managing Director who joined the Capstone team from Morgan Stanley.
“The Top 20 list is exciting, but we are focused on being the leader amongst Boston based firms. Missing the #1 ranking by one transaction last year is just a reminder that we have a lot of work to do in 2005, which we fully expect to be a banner year in the M&A markets,” noted John Ferrara, the firm’s Managing Partner who started the practice as a spin out from Arthur Andersen in 2002.
The investment banking rankings complete a year of strong growth and continued success for Capstone Partners. During 2004, Capstone maintained a 100% closure rate on the firm’s client transactions; completed #1 ranked transactions in both the retail software and post secondary education sectors, one of which was the 7th largest private equity investment in Q2 of 2004; founded subsidiaries Capstone Insurance, LLC and Capstone Capital Markets LLC; and received leadership honors with the Boston Business Journal’s 40-Under-40 executive award.
“We have come a long way, but there are miles to go before we rest,” concluded Gavin Long, head of the firm’s research initiatives. “We are all fastening our seatbelts for our 2005 plans.”
